Black 5 Books is home to well over 20,000 books, covering most categories. The main specialism is RAILWAYS, with over 2,000 titles and a large number of associated magazines. Other areas with large stocks include ART, BIOGRAPHY, CHILDREN'S, CRICKET, FICTION, HISTORY, MILITARY, PHILOSOPHY, POLITICS and THEOLOGY. There is also a large selection of PENGUINS. All books are carefully and securely packed and despatched promptly, except when a customer prefers to pay by cheque, when this must first be cleared. Customers travelling any distance to browse through our stock are advised to check beforehand to ensure the shop is open.

Prices as listed, plus postage and packing by airmail or surface as desired by the customer (minimum UK £3.50 and overseas £7.50). These rates are subject to change as costs may rise. Any cheques must be received and cleared before the book is despatched. There is a surcharge of £1.00 on cheques to cover handling and bank charges.

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LBS, or 1 KG, and on the costs of packing. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know the extra shipping which is required. To avoid problems intransit, tracking is advised, especially with books shipping overseas from the UK. Customers may request this in the Comments section on the order form.
If you wish to pay by cheque, there will be a surcharge of £1.00 to cover costs, and the book will be sent on receipt and clearance of the cheque.
Books are normally packed within bubble wrap and ribbed card, with brown paper outside and a clear address label. Padded bags may be used for magazines and some small items.
