Descripción:

260pp. Volume one in The Villa Seurat Series. The Villa Seurat books were organised by Miller, Nin and Durrell as an adjunct of the Obelisk Press, the idea being to supply Kahane with books of their choosing. This time the scheme was financed by Durrell's wife Nancy, and the book was produced as cheaply as possible : as in all copies, pp. 115-118 have been printed in the wrong position on the signature, making it impossible to bind them in the correct order. Although paginated sequentially, the correct sequence of text runs as follows: 114, 117, 115, 116, 118. The second volume was 'Max and the White Phagocytes' by Miller and the third and final publication was Anais Nin's 'Winter of Artifice'. None of the Villa Seurat books sold well enough to recover their costs and the imminent German invasion of France and the exodus of the expatriates from Paris marked the demise of the series. Covers sunned and rubbed, pages toned at edges, else very good in original stiff paper wrappers with new protective slipcase. [Pearson A-56]. 8vo. N° de ref. de la librería
