49 pages; Former owner's name neatly on front endpaper ("F.T. Fuller"), otherwise contents clean and tight in original binding of cream textured cloth with marbled boards, printed paper title label at spine. Cloth toned at spine. One of a limited edition of only 550 copies, this was the third book issued by The Peter Pauper Press and printed by Peter Beilenson. Contents include: "Advice to a Young Man on the Choice of a Mistress", "On Early Marriage", "To Madame Helvetius", "Polly Baker's Speech". In 1928, 22-year-old Peter Beilenson (who had studied with book and type designer Frederic W. Goudy, printer William Edwin Rudge, and Melbert B. Cary), set up a small press in the basement of his father’s home in Larchmont, New York; thus began the Peter Pauper Press. The first book Beilensen designed and printed wasJ. M. Synge’s "With Petrarch" in an edition of 200 copies, which was chosen by the American Institute of Graphic Arts as one of their "50 Books of the Year.". N° de ref. de la librería 39372
