Originally a 2-page 12mo bifolium, but with the text from the second page laid down below the first. Burns reproduces a letter which he says he is sending to the press 'in reply to one you send me but which I found subsequently you had published'. He refers to a statement 'attributed to me and referred to by you', which he says is 'due to a misapprehension of some chaffing remarks of mine in the Lobby of Friday last. | I regret to say that I did not see you shaken like a dog and I am sorry to say that I did not witness the pulling of your ear'.
