French composer and organist remembered for his "Mouceau Symphonique." ANS in French, 1p, heavy stock 5½" X 4", Meudon, France, 1908 April 13. Addressed to "Cher Monsieur." Near fine. On a printed correspondence card that features a printed bar of music in green at upper left, Guilmant tells an unnamed correspondent that he will be present at a rehearsal. Uncommon and attractive. Estado de conservación: Very good. - sc Small quarto [6-3/8 inches high by 5 inches wide]. 7 words sending his autograph penned in black ink on the first side of his 4-sided personalized letterhead with his address printed at the top. Signed "Nalbro Bartley / October 30th / 1926." The top & left margins of the letterhead are darkened with 2 small, very light stains. There are pencil notations on the fourth side with a surface tear & 2 pieces of tape where the note has been removed from an album. Folded once for mailing. Very good. Signed "B. S. Stanoyevich". There is a small tear to the left edge of the printed letter & its bottom right corner is lightly creased. There is a small crease & tear to the right edge of the blank 3rd side. Very good. Stanoyevich writes to poet and historical fiction writer John Hyde Preston that the review is not accepting any poetry at present as they already have so much on hand.B. S. Stanoyevich was associate editor of North American Review. NAR was the first literary magazine in the United States, founded in Boston in 1815 by journalist Nathan Hale and others. Good. - 26 words penned in black ink on a sheet of cream letterhead, 7-5/8 inches high by 5 inches wide, with his address printed in blind at top right. Signed in the third person in the body of the letter: "Sir Algernon Borthwick presents his compliments.". There is some rubbing & light creasing to the top edge of the letterhead with a tiny area of soiling at bottom left. There are scraps of gray paper adhering to the verso where the letter has been removed from an album. Good. Borthwick sends his compliments to a Mrs. Jackson and informs her that Lady Borthwick is abroad until May.Sir Algernon Borthwick [1830-1908] was a British journalist, who inherited the proprietorship of the "Morning Post" from his father. Borthwick not only saved the newspaper from financial ruin, but also turned it into a paper with considerable political influence. In 1886, he was returned to Parliament as member for South Kensington, London, where he was a resolute opponent of Gladstone's Home Rule Bill for Ireland. Nº de ref. de la librería 34045
