Descripción:
Scottish poet and editor (1777-1844). The letter has been trimmed, with the loss of the address and date, part of which survives on the address side (verso), now one, page, c.6 x 6", some staining and fold marks but text clear and substance of the letter complete as follows: "My dear Friend / You will do me a very particular favor if you will let me have the MS of Britain [underlined] after the article is printed - [fifteen words excised - see note below] I make this request in the suppositon that the ms of the articles [sic] is of no value to you after printing - If it were I should not ask it - I am correcting the article Britain which is all finished & will reach you in a week or so . . .". Note: the excised words include a request for theprinter to return the ms. sheets back to Brewster with the proofs. This letter derives from the collection of a relative of Brewster's who was helped by him to form the collection - I have a letter in which he mentions"autographs" he is providing for her collection. [I can provide a copy of this letter.] Some letters in the collection were addressed to him, others (including the vandalised, clipped signatures of e.g. Fox Talbot) were presumably addressed to Brewster. There is also material in the collection which derives from Brewster's likely acquaintance (Oersted, Lardner, Walter Scott, etc.). N° de ref. del artículo 1930
