Facsimile reprint of the 1813-1820 edition. Four volumes (complete). Hardbacks, bound in brown cloth with printed titling to front and spine. Each volume 27.5 × 22cm. Pagination by double columns, ie 2 page numbers per page. V1 clxxvii, 787pp, V2 912pp + 519pp, V3 1290pp, V4 1082pp + 499pp. An immense work by Anthony Wood (1632-1695). This vast biographical dictionary of the writers and ecclesiastics who had been educated at Oxford originally appeared as Athenae Oxonienses (1691-92) and is here presented as the facsimile edition of 1813-1820 which was updated by Philip Bliss. Condition: This set is in very good condition. There is some light marking to the cloth and rubbing to the titling to the spine of volume 1. The inner binding is secure and the pages are clean. There are a few inoffensive pen marks to the index. Overall, a very good set in neat and tidy condition. This is a heavy set weighing nearly 8kg so postage will be by courier.
