Original staple-bound illustrated wraps 14 x 29cm. Printed in USSR Echmiadzin, Armenia. Unnumbered (42)pp including uncredited text, a fold-out annotated pictorial map of Armenia and very many other beautifully detailed and captioned b/w drawings by G. Avakian, and a bibliography. Covers good, with tears and minor loss along the spine. Interiors very good. This is very rare with Worldcat locating only 2 others (NYPL; University of Michigan) and a possible 3rd (Universite de Geneve). Jisc does not record it. Avakian is also recorded as producing a larger and much more detailed version of the map titled "Visit Armenia! These may be seen only in Armenia" also for the Dept of Tourism in 1968. This is undated, but a notice inside the front cover states "Yerevan is 2750 years old". The anniversary celebrations took place during the Erebuni-Yerevan Festival in October 1968. Erebuni fortress, considered to be Yerevan's start, was built in 782 BC. This event also coincided with the end of a series of important archaeological excavations at Erebuni led by the Armenian Konstantine Hovhannisyan, and Russian Boris Piotrovsky during 1950-68.
