Descripción:

First edition, hardback, rebound in green buckram with contrasting title label to spine. 32 × 25cm. Please see below for pagination. Although published as one book, this is essentially three titles bound as one, all being readings given to the Archaeological Institution of Great Britain and Ireland at their Annual Meeting at Chichester, July 12, 13th, and 16th 1853. The first title is Willis' The Architectural History of Chichester Cathedral, with an Introductory Essay on the Fall of the Tower and Spire on February 21st, 1861. xxiv +39pp. Illustrated with 10 full page plates. The second is The Architectural History of Boxgrove Priory by Petit, with some Historical Remarks and Conjectures on the Priory and Church of Boxgrove by the Rev W Turner, Vicar. 49pp. Illustrated with three full page plates, as well as smaller illustrations and plans within the text. The third and final title is The Architectural History of St Mary's Church, New Shoreham by Edmund Sharpe. 47pp, with 8 full page plates. There is a 32pp addenda, entitled "Supplemental Sketch of the Collective Architectural History of Chichester Cathedral, Boxgrove Priory and St Mary's Church New Shoreham as Indicated by their Mouldings" by Edmund Sharpe, this has smaller illustrations within the text. Condition: The green cloth binding is in very good condition, as is the inner binding. The pages are browned throughout but not to a serious degree, and there is a little damage to the page edges in places, but again this is quite light. Scattered foxing to the first few pages, and some offsetting from the plates but a perfectly usable copy. PLEASE NOTE: This item is heavy and will require extra postage. N° de ref. de la librería
