This 245-page, Signed offering in VG-/G condition is Arabs, Christians, and Jews: They Want Peace Now! by James and Marti Hefley, published by Logos International in 1978. Not an ex-library copy, the book is physically crisp/sound, despite a 3" long X 3/8" wide brownish scotch tape stain on lower portion of back paste down page, a smallish indentation along the top edge of front cover piece(which does not mar the surface coloring of said cover), and some very modest yellowing of text's pages. The dust jacket had to be marked down, condition-wise, mainly due to some noticeable shelf wear around top right edge of front cover of jacket, and the bottom 2 1/2" X 3 1/2" section of back inside jacket flap is cut, however neatly, off/away. Other than that, the jacket, overall, looks pretty decent. Book is inscribed, and then SIGNED, by James Lefley on upper portion of front loose end page. From front inside jacket flap, "James and Marti Hefley are nationally-known journalists who specialize in those areas embroiled in controversy--Vietnam, Bangladesh, and now the Middle East. In this book, perhaps their most ambitious venture yet, they untangle the web of hostility and suspicion that has often characterized the relationship between Arabs, Christians, and Jews. The Hefleys bring together the sociological, historical, and religious strands of these three divergent groups so that we can better understand the real issues and claims of the present political situation. They objectively cover such factors as the rise of Zionism, the Arab contribution to culture, and the decline of Christianity in the region. [This book] provides the understanding necessary for openness and compassion among all groups. And without this, peace will never be possible". An interesting snapshot into the state of the longstanding Arab-Israeli dilemma, circa the late-Seventies. This book just may provide enough factual background to help you finally sort out/make sense of why there is such a stubborn disagreement between/among the quarreling factions in the Middle East, then, and now. Also, laid in, is a type-written letter from the Hefleys thanking a Dr. Cade who granted them an interview that helped with another book by them about John Birch. Thank you!.
