Providing an overview of the synergy between the fields of electrochemistry and textiles, this book shows the possibilities and innovative character of electrochemistry for textiles. It begins with an overview of the theory of electrochemistry as well as practical considerations. The second part covers the development of sensors for the optimization and automation of textile finishing processes and the third part discusses textile electrodes used in a wide variety of applications and quality control methods. The fourth part explores the functionalization of fibers through chemical and electrochemical modification and some applications are give for these types of textile related electrodes.

About the Author:

Dr Philippe Westbroek is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Ghent University, Belgium, in the department of Textiles.

Prof Georgios Priniotakis is Professor of Applied Technology in the department of Textile Engineering at the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus, Greece.

Prof Dr Paul Kiekens is Full Professor at the Ghent University, Belgium, Head of the department of Textiles and was Dean of the Engineering Faculty from 2002-2004.
