Philadelphia, 1806. 8vo, contemporary sheep, 648 pp. plus index. Gilt lettered spine label. A very nice, complete copy of McMahon's important early work, quite exhaustive, on American gardening. McMahon was Jefferson's gardening mentor and curator of plants for the Lewis and Clark expedition. This work, quite scarce in its first edition, is generally regarded as the first of its kind. A bright, very good copy with some weakening to front hinge, a marginal tear with loss to a rear blank, normal foxing and browning and other signs of normal wear. Very well preserved overall in a contemporary sheepskin binding. Please contact us for additional pictures or information. (Shaw and Shoemaker 10771). N° de ref. de la librería
