Hardcover. First edition, limited to 350 copies. Original white parchment and blue-gray boards printed in red; octavo; 79 pp. Map. Text was originally published anonymously in London in 1830 in reaction to (and borrowing freely from) Otto von Kotzebue's "A New Voyage round the World in the Years 1823, 24, 25, and 26," also published in the same year. The Russian navigator's book made plain Russia's intention to extend their fur-trading operations in California and the "Englishman" sought to wake his countrymen to an awareness of the potential value of the land for England. Allen Press #17; BCC #90. Owner name to front free endpaper, else fine. Nº de ref. del artículo: 18182
