Descripción George Newnes, Ltd., London, 1931. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very good. 1st Edition. Churchill's character profile of King Alfonso XIII of Spain was written the year the King fled his country, effectively abdicating the throne he would not formally relinquish for another 10 years, after the Spanish Civil War. It is published in this issue of The Strand Magazine, Vol. LXXXII, No. 487, at pages 15-23. Churchill's piece is highlighted in yellow print on a red banner across the top of the front cover. The piece spans 9 pages with 6 illustrations. This original July 1931 issue of Strand Magazine is in very good condition. The covers and spine are complete and firmly attached, though the binding is cocked as is common with these old magazines. The covers are bright and clean, showing only minor wear at the hinges and corner. The spine is wrinkled, but shows only minor wear at the spine ends and a small chip one inch below the head of the spine. The contents are clean and bright with no markings or spotting. The magazine is protected in a clear plastic sleeve. Churchill's profile of Alfonso was also published in Collier's, June 1927 and later appeared in Great Contemporaries (1937) under the title "Alfonso XIII".
