Sinopsis: In 1963, Opral Mason Benson, described by the editors of Drum, Africa's largest circulating magazine as "sensational, with an enchanting elegance and superlative trendiness, remains the epitome of African beauty and engaging intellect". Having earned a Master's Degree in Education from Atlanta University in 1959 equipped Opral Mason Benson to make distinguished strides throughout her career. Her public service and administration began in 1961. During that year she was also appointed by the Liberian Government as Assistant Secretary General to the historic Monrovia Conference, which paved the way for the formation of the Organization Of African Unity. Her dedication and concern for the needs of the less privileged African women and youth have always been embedded in her heart and is the reason for her philanthropic endeavors. Her devotion in this arena has resulted in her establishing The Outreach Foundation in 1996, a visionary non-governmental, non-religious, non-sectarian, non profit organization designed to promote the development and empowerment of Nigerian women and youth. It also seeks to promote national and international programs for the benefit of the less privileged and vulnerable groups. Caring about others characterizes Opral Mason Benson and has earned her numerous chieftaincy titles in Nigeria. The Government of Liberia crowned Chief (Mrs.) Opral Mason Benson, as "Commander of The Star of Africa" in 1970, and in 2000, The President Of The Federal Government Of Nigeria, General Olusegun Obasanjo decorated her with the national honor of "Member of the Order of the Niger." With these honors she has become a Nigerian cultural icon, truly an African Queen of Hearts!
