The Treaty between the British Government and the Amnir of Afghanistan was signed at Gandamak on 26th May 1879 and is shwn as being signed by Amir Muhammad Yakub Khan and N Cavagnari, Major , Poltl Office on Special Duty and it was ratified in Simla on the 30th by the Viceroy, Lord Lytton. The last of the 10 Articles of the Treaty promise that if the afghan Amir fulfills his promises and obligations he will be paid a subsidy of six lakhs of rupees per annum.
