Sinopsis: This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 9th Conference on Arti?cial Intelligence and Soft Computing, ICAISC 2008, held in Zakopane, Poland d- ing June 22?26, 2008. The conference was organized by the Polish Neural N- work Society in cooperation with the Academy of Humanities and Economics in L´ od´ z, the Department of Computer EngineeringattheCzestochowaUniversity ofTechnology, andthe IEEEComputationalIntelligence Society - PolandCh- ter. The previous conferences took place in Kule (1994), Szczyrk (1996), Kule (1997) and Zakopane (1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006) and attracted a large n- ber of papers and internationally recognized speakers: Lot? A. Zadeh, Shun-ichi Amari, Daniel Amit, Piero P. Bonissone, Zdzislaw Bubnicki, Andrzej Cichocki, Wlodzislaw Duch, Jerzy Grzymala-Busse, Kaoru Hirota, Janusz Kacprzyk, L- zloT. Koczy,Soo-YoungLee,RobertMarks,EvangeliaMicheli-Tzanakou,Erkki Oja,Witold Pedrycz,Sarunas Raudys,Enrique Ruspini, Jorg ¨ Siekmann,Roman Slowinski, RyszardTadeusiewicz, Shiro Usui, Ronald Y. Yager, Syozo Yasui and Jacek Zurada. The aim of this conference is to build a bridge between tra- tional arti?cial intelligence techniques and recently developed soft computing techniques. It was pointed out by Lot? A. Zadeh that ?soft computing (SC) is a coalition of methodologies which are oriented toward the conception and design of information/intelligent systems. The principal members of the coalition are: fuzzy logic (FL), neurocomputing (NC), evolutionary computing (EC), pro- bilistic computing (PC), chaotic computing (CC), and machine learning (ML). The constituent methodologiesof SC are,for the most part, complementaryand synergistic rather than competitive. ? This volume presents both traditional - ti?cial intelligence methods and soft computing techniques.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing, ICAISC 2008, held in Zakopane, Poland, in June 2008.
The 116 revised contributed papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 320 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on neural networks and their applications, fuzzy systems and their applications, evolutionary algorithms and their applications, classification, rule discovery and clustering, image analysis, speech and robotics, bioinformatics and medical applications, various problems of artificial intelligence, and agent systems.
