Título: ARAB INTERLUDE
Editorial: London: Ivor Nicolson & Watson 1936
Año de publicación: 1936
FIRST EDITION. 8vo., pp. 5-384. Colour photographic frontispiece of the author and seventeen other b/w photographic illustrations. Original orange cloth sound/VG. Interior clean/GOOD. A wonderfully human book describing the eight years the author spent in a small Saharan oasis of Algeria in the 1920's and 30's with her young son and daughter. Not only does Clare Sheridan tell her own story with candour and warmth, she also reveals the fascinating world and myriad relationships of the people whose life revolved around this small patch of fertility in the wasteland of the desert. Fortunately for an author that is about to divulge the most intimate secrets of the people whose confidence and trust she has gained she is discreet and the names of the murderer, blackmailer, tyrant and lover are all cleverly disguised. This is no way detracts from what is an engrossing tale. N° de ref. de la librería 10626

Descripción de la librería: We specialise in travel, adventure and exploration books published between about 1900 and 1960, loosely referred to as post-imperialist travel writing. Although most books are the first-hand experiences of their authors, we have included books of general interest about a particular area or incident and autobiographies and biographies by and of famous travellers or adventurers. You will also find some books we consider of particular merit outside our somewhat arbitrary date range. Mark Culme-Seymour Proprietor
