1st edn., x, 206pp, half tone photo ills., line drawings and diagrams in text, large format (9 x 7 Inches approx.), white cloth lettered in gilt at spine, wraparound coloured pictorial dustwrapper, an account of Airspeed Ltd., the independent aircraft design and manufacturing company founded in in York in 1931 by Nevil Shute Norway (the novelist Nevil Shute) and A. Hessell Tiltman before moving to Portsmouth, producing designs technically years ahead of others including the retractable undercarriage but always struggling for funding, it was eventually taken over by de Havilland in 1951.
