Front free endpaper missing. Dustjacket (?) synopsis pasted to preliminary page. Sunning to spine. One bumped corner. One nudged corner. Mildly worn edges with folded-under spine caps. Dedication page has a 2" tear and center worn spot. Black and white sketches. Black lettering on spine and black illustration of guitar on front of red, cloth-covered boards. Ephemera from 1953 laid-in. 302 pp. Clean, tight, bright. "In Texas we call land, grubbed of stumps, freshly broken and cultivated for the first time, "new ground." On such virgin land the first crop is usually bountiful. There have been many ballad hunters. I have heard of no one who has attempted to fill a book with stories of his search. My trail has been longer than most, both in miles and in years. In so far, then, I cultivate new ground," (Preface). N° de ref. de la librería 72553
