In My Own Write is a collection of short stories, articles and poems by the author of The Il-khan's Wife, Sweeter Than Wine and other longer works. From science fiction and the supernatural to travel writing, verse and reminiscence, these are pieces of short writing, both fiction and non-fiction, to entertain and amuse over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. Travelling Companions is the oldest offering, a short story written in the nineties when the author was toying with ideas for a scifi novel. Leaving South Africa is a reimagining of his mother’s experience on leaving her first home about a century ago. Christmas with Mr Selfridge is a ghost story. Mountain and Flood recalls childhood holidays. Feneticks Bee Dammd and A Bat’s Ear View were inspired by experiences while a member of a choir. Other pieces are equally miscellaneous.
