Reseña del editor:
Originally written in 1894 and revised on various occasions, this collection of short stories by Thomas Hardy brings together many of the themes and concerns he deals with in his best novels, primarily the restrictions of bourgeoisie life and the social norms that dictate it. Tales of passion, ambition, and deception--from a treatise on the pointlessness of marriage to an exploration of how social aspirations can have a negative effect on family and community life--are pulled together by the common thread of irony. At times farcical and at times tragic, "Life's Little Ironies" reflects the humor and satire that permeate Hardy's body of work.
