The author Monica Jay, a middle-age divorcee and mother of a grown-up family, admitted to her house the latest in a succession of paying guests - an attractive young executive. But how was she to know that the man who stood on her doorstep one cold Frbruary afternoon was eventually to become her lover and involve her in a fantasy of such dimensions as to change her life rntirely. Hesitantly at first and with many first starts, and in spite of the huge age gap, an extraordinary relationship developed between Monica and her paying guest, in the course of which he introduced her to his alter - ego, Geraldine. Monica Jay was born in Berlin but has lived in London for most of her life. During her married life she ran her own Montessori nursery school.
