In Mexico the verb chingar has been in current use since Spanish was established as the official language. There are records of the existence of one of it derivatives, hijo de la chingada (son of the fucked one), dated from the 15th Century as an insult used to refer to mestizo people. Thus chingar is a word that, as much as fuck in English-speaking countries, is inseparable from the Mexican culture, the way Mexicans grasp the world an relate to it. This is why Algarabía EDITORIAL publishes The Chingonary, the English version of the best seller El Chingonario, so the English-speaking reader gets acquainted with the unique use of this term, that is an essential trait of Mexican culture. This book is written in fun, entretaining and relaxed way. It leaves academic righteousness aside, a context where these words and expressions are typically considered to be "offensive".
