The present book on linguistic analysis of spelling errors in the writing of school children is carried out with intent to point out some effective way to improving learning and teaching of Urdu spellings. The analysis comprises six chapters. And here the short description of the given work. It begins with theoretical background of the present work. It explains the notions of language teaching, error analysis with a view to providing a proper perspective to the present work. Language teaching is a complex set of activities all aiming to language learning. A good language teaching theory always aims at meeting all requirements of learners in the best possible ways. Error analysis is the best tool for describing and explaining mistakes made by students. It helps know the sources of difficulties of the learners. This book also gives the outlines of the main features of Urdu writing system, which consists of letters, connected forms and diacritical marks. Urdu has many irregularities in its spellings for a variety of reasons such as it has many homophonous letters and many words exhibit a mismatch between sound and spelling.

About the Author:

I, Dr. Paiker Fatima obtained my Ph.D in Linguistics from one of the reputed and pioneer University known as Aligarh Muslim University (A.M.U), Aligarh, India. Presently am working as an Asst. Prof. in the Department of English and Translation. Qassim University. Al-Qassim, KSA.
