Descripción Prestel, 1989. Rilegato. Condición: nuovo. Brand New Mint Copy. It is only in recent years that the importance and intrinsic beauty of Lyonel Feininger's work has been internationally recognized. The selection of illustrations and carefully chosen colour reproductions in this volume document Feininger's artistic development. Of particular interest are the numerous reproductions ofless well known, early works created from 19°7 to 1912, whose charming, colourful, multifigured compositions reveal the origins of the artist as a caricaturist. After 1913 the crystalline-layered architecture paintings for which he is best known predominate, reaching their pinnacle with the Halle Series. In the 1920S, Feininger began painting his famous seascapes, imbued with magical light and atmospheric effects. In the late works these themes are increasingly varied and New York motifs appear after his return to that city, where he spent the last twenty years of his life. Individual commentaries on the colour plates and an introduction to Feininger's life and work illuminate the development of the artist's oeuvre. The author was able to draw on a wealth of previously unpublished material, making this book essential reading for lovers of modern art, Ill. bn: 100, Ill. colori: 60 colour plates, Peso: 1295 gr.
