This book covers fundamental principles and numerical methods relevant to the modeling of the injection molding process. As injection molding processing is related to rheology, mechanical and chemical engineering, polymer science and computational methods, and is a rapidly growing field, the book provides a multidisciplinary and comprehensive introduction to the subjects required for an understanding of the complex process. It addresses the up-to-date status of fundamental understanding and simulation technologies, without losing sight of still useful classical approaches. The main chapters of the book are devoted to the currently active fields of flow-induced crystallization and orientation evolution of fiber suspensions, respectively, followed by detailed discussion of their effects on mechanical property, shrinkage and warpage of injection-molded products. The level of the proposed book will be suitable for interested scientists, R&D engineers, application engineers, and graduate students in engineering.

Dr. Rong Zheng received her Ph.D. degree from Dept. of Computer Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned her M.E. and B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, P.R. China. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Computing and Software at McMaster University, Canada, where she also holds associate membership in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and is affiliated with the School of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Zheng holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Mobile Computing. Her research interests span mobile computing, data analytics, and networked systems. She leads a highly original and innovative research program that was recognized with the NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplement in 2019. Her earlier accolades include the NSF CAREER Awardin 2006 and the Joseph Ip Distinguished Engineering Fellowship (2015–2018). Dr. Zheng has served on the editorial boards of the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. She was a member of the organizing committees for MobiSys 2020 and SenSys 2019, and has held technical leadership roles including Technical Program Co-Chair for WASA 2012, CPSCom 2012, MobileHealth 2014, CrowdSenSys 2017, IEEE Smart IoT 2020, and ACM SenSys 2021, as well as General Co-Chair for EUC 2016. She is an active member of the technical program committees of premier conferences in networking and mobile computing, including SenSys, INFOCOM, ICDCS, ICNP, RTSS, and IPSN.
Dr. Chao Cai is currently an associate professor at the College of Life Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His research interest includes mobile sensing, deep learning, signal processing, embedded system design.
