The onset of wireless mesh networks and the increased density of wireless base stations and users call for algorithms that enable collaborative resource sharing in order to enhance performance. Partisan nature of wireless nodes in such networks, impedes the applicability of network wide sharing methods. The initial part of this text presents resource allocation mechanisms in the context of power sharing, and presents distributed strategies for guaranteeing fairness. The latter part of the text describes frequency sharing in mesh networks. Towards this, a partial information based stochastic control problem is formulated that quantifies the best possible performance achievable as a function of the available information. Using a combination of analysis, simulation and experiments, the strategies are evaluated and the performance is quantified as a function of system parameters.
