When we went searching for an author to launch our new line of trade-book formatted fiction, we lucked out in William Maltese who comes to us with intimate and extensive exposure to the gay life-style that includes the high-rollers, like the hustlers of Miami's South Beach who go for hundreds of dollars a pop; like the Third World kids who'll trick for the price of a bar of soap; like the green young studs, fresh from the farm; like the oh so jaded shifters and movers in Hollywood's gay Mafia; like the average gay guy who prefers his sex non-experimental and fairly run of the mill; like the S&M, B&D crowd who prefer their sex with whips and chains.... Maltese's personal familiarity with most varibles of the gay-life spectrum, his life-time participation in them, and movement through them, as witnessed by his many published nonfiction observations on them, impart to his fiction the kind of sturdy underlying foundation that makes his erotica all the more valid, and which we, at Prowler, feel makes for a genuinely informative, as well as good and arousing read. From the Author:
As far as the gay life, I have been around awhile, done a helluva lot, seen a helluva lot more. Some of what I have seen and have done has appeared in a gamut of gay publications, as well as in the straight press; always, I hope, verifying that the gay life-style isn't all Walpurgis Night and/or Devil's Sabbat. There are a lot of normal, everyday kind of gay guys out there. I know, I have met them, enjoyed them and their company. And, if I hardly consider myself one of the normal ones, actually having sought out many of the nonstereotypical examples of gays and gay life, because of my ongoing interest in them, as well as in my continuing eagerness to chronicle them and their uniqueness, I only hope my resulting literary portrayals indicate my personal approval of all interesting people who, in harming no one, hardly deserve their oftime reputations for having horns (horniness another thing altogether), just because their sexual adventures make for far more interesting reading than does either yours or mine.
