PreSchool-K-Simple, comforting stories that provide positive depictions of daycare. In the first book, Benjamin misses his mother so much that he cannot enjoy the toys or the other children. When his teacher assures him that his mother will be back, he thinks about going home that evening and coming back to play the next morning, and decides that he likes daycare after all. Though the resolution is easily reached, this book should still reassure youngsters. In Katie, a group of children miss their former teacher when she leaves. The story shows that their feelings are normal and healthy and also demonstrates how they learn to deal with them. Each book includes a note to parents, teachers, and caregivers that suggests behavior and activities to ease the coping process. The accompanying artwork is fittingly simple, comprised of rounded figures in monochromatic clothing, with few lines or details other than bold outlines. Solid bilingual additions to daycare, preschool, and public library collections.
