Designed to be used by children in their first six months of school PM Starters One and Two Foster the linking of sound and letter patterns through the frequent repetition of key vocabulary throughout the text. Encourage the use of a variety of reading strategies including grammatical and contextual awareness as well as phonic skills. Allow children to draw on their own background knowledge and understanding of content through the use of a range of children’s characters, themes and interests that correspond with children’s experience of the world around them. Correspond to the high frequency word list in the NLS.
