In this work, the author identifies five clear turning points of World War II where erroneous decision-making hastened Germany's defeat. Further, he considers alternatives which might have usefully been pursued, and highlights occasions where the course of the war could have been reset. The events discussed are: Battle of Britain, the Eastern Front debacle, the attempt to take Stalingrad and the Caucasian oilfields, the failure to defend "Fortress Europe" and the collapse of Italy, and the failure to keep the Luftwaffe available to halt or delay the Allied offensive.
