In Detail

D3.js (Data-Driven Documents) is a JavaScript Library built for data visualization. It is used to display graphical representations of information in a browser using JavaScript. Because they are, essentially, a collection of JavaScript codes, graphical elements produced by D3.js can react to changes made on the client on the server side. D3 has seen major adoption as websites include more dynamic charts, graphs, infographics, and other forms of visualized data. It can be implemented in many sectors, such as Finance, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Life Sciences, Social Media Analysis, and so on.

This book starts off by discussing what makes an effective dashboard and how to create one that provides the best interactive experience. It then gets readers started with concepts related to beautiful data visualizations and helps them produce a simple dashboard from beginning to end using a small dataset. This further allows readers to delve deeper into D3 to create a more complex multi-element dashboard with a large dataset. By the end of the book, readers will have designed and developed several dashboards (including a responsive dashboard) with D3 charts, graphs, and maps animated by JavaScript.
