This collection of mainly short poems, in a variety of meters and forms, reflects, sometimes lyrically, sometimes sardonically, on the impressions and memories of an author humbly born, classically educated, widely travelled and easily bored. Themes range from the experience of love and the way love changes over time, to football, from recollections of exotic places to the Lancashire countryside, from high art to nuclear physics and from politics to the petty humiliations of queuing in a supermarket and a NHS surgery.
