About the Author:

Barbee Davis, MA, PMP, PMI-ACP, and PHR, heads Davis Consulting, a provider of project management guidance and services. Barbee also works for the Project Management Institute (PMI). She is a R.E.P. Quality Reviewer for organizations who wish to be part of the PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) program. Ms. Davis leads special projects for PMI, such as the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) project that helps local PMI Chapters attract and educate college students about the project management field. She also created the PMI Intellectual Property Tutorial for R.E.Ps, which has been translated into eight languages. Over the past 5 years, Ms. Davis has written the semi-monthly column, Quick Quizzes, for the PMI Community Post that reached over 300,000 project managers worldwide. She also writes a similar feature, Topic Teasers, available through PMI Chapter newsletters.

Ms. Davis has designed and implemented projects in varied industries and managed large project rollouts for many large corporations. This ex-IBMer and former Wilson Learning facilitator is also proficient in online learning instructional design, having both written for and taught on Blackboard for universities and corporate clients. She has been on staff at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska Wesleyan, and Bellevue University. As co-founder of ExecuTrain of Nebraska and Vice-President of Sales and Training, she has managed and provided technical training for solution developers and systems engineers, as well as offering end-user training on all platforms.

Besides holding the PMP certification, Barbee also has an Agile Practitioner Certification (PMI-ACP), a black belt in Microsoft Project, a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) accreditation, and an American Society of Training and Development Training Certificate in instruction, facilitation, and instructional design. She is a popular and sought-after speaker around the world, especially on merging Agile practices with PMBOK Guide processes to bridge the gap between the sometimes warring methodologies.

Review:

The overarching guideline that emerges out of this well-written book is be agile about being Agile. It does not just tell us to do it, this guide tells us why, and then what, and goes on to show us how. --Dr. Venkat Subramaniam, founder of Agile Developer, Inc. and award-winning author

Agile Practices for Waterfall Projects can be added to the greatest hits collection of Agile books. The end result is a comprehensive guide for project managers to successfully bridge the gap between the two diverse methodologies of Agile and Waterfall. --Maureen Weverka, PMO Director, Mutual of Omaha

If you are looking to move to Agile, this guide clearly shows you how to use the methodology to implement and deliver projects in todays competitive market. --David Geary, Software developer and author of Graphic Java and Core HTML5 Canvas
