Best friends Stella Hudson and Violet Appleby first met when they were children at summer camp and discovered a strange phenomenon- both of them were able to see a bright white and purple star in the sky just below the Milky Way that was visible to nobody else. The years have passed and while the friendship between the now-teenage Stella and Violet has grown, so has the mystery of their star. On a stormy autumn night an unexpected visitor turns up on Stella's doorstep shaking rain off of his polka dotted umbrella and shocking the girls to their core. He is Faris, an elderly Centaur from a world called Sidra.
