There are several accepted opinions as to the kind of man who should undertake the writing of a book on the principles of Success. It is held by some that he should be a man of wealth-wealth which he has earned by the unaided use of his own powers. Others hold that wealth is not a necessary qualification in any sense; all that is needed is the ability to observe life, and to draw correct inferences from its phenomena. As to which of these views may be correct, it is hardly my business to say; and although every writer is expected to consider his competency for the task essayed, it frequently happens that his love for a subject over-rides this very proper demand for suitable credentials...
