This book has been written for a finite element analysis course given to industry designers and college Mechanical Engineering Students who want to perform finite element analysis using Pro/MECHANICA in integrated mode. It is assumed by the author that the reader has a basic knowledge of Pro/Engineer (minimum 200 hours) in order to be able to comprehend the modeling logic behind each exercise. In addition, it is strongly recommended to have a basic knowledge of Finite Element Theory in order to be able to successfully comprehend modeling features and results of the analyses. Going through these tutorials without taking a finite element analysis course may lead to some areas of finite element analysis and the software not being covered or understood adequately.

Yves Gagnon, M.A.Sc. is originally from Matane, Quebec (Canada). He presently teaches a Okanagan University College in Kelowna. He teaches the subjects of Materials, Mechanics of Solids, Manufacturing Processes and CAD (Pro.ENGINEER) and FEA (Pro/MECHANICA) for the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department. Yves completed a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering form the University of Sherbrooke. He completed his bachelor’s of engineering degree form Royal Military College of Canada. Yves’ experience is mainly in aerospace where he acted as a test engineer through the military. He also worked in the truck and automotive industry where he participated in R&D and design projects, acting as a Finite Element Analyst. He still to this day performs projects for the industry, acting as a FEA consultant, while juggling between courses at the University College.
