This book was created to introduce Pro/MECHANICA Motion, which supports virtual prototyping for analysis and mechanism design. It covers most of the major concepts and frequently used commands required to advance from a novice to an intermediate user level. Basic concepts include: motion model creation, such as body and joint definitions; analysis type selection, such as assembly analysis, kinematics and dynamics; design study preparation, including design problem definition, sensitivity study and optimizations. The concepts are introduced using simple but realistic examples.

Kuang-Hua Chang is and Associate Professor for the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. He received his diploma in Mechanical Engineering from National Taipei Institute of Technology, Taiwan in 1980; a M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1987 and 1990, respectively. Since then, he joined the Center for Computer-Aided Design at Iowa as Research Scientist and CAE technical Manager. In 1996, he joined Northern Illinois University as an Assistant Professor. In1997, he joined OU. His areas of interest in clued Virtual Prototyping, CAD, Mechanical Fatigue and Reliably Analysis; Tools and Information Integration for Concurrent Design and Manufacturing; and Solid Freeform Fabrication. His research has been published in more than 100 articles in international journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Chang has also won numerous awards in both teaching and research in the past few years.
