Kindergarten-Grade 2-The simple declarative sentences and accessible vocabulary of this text describe a day in the life of a rescue dog. Readers follow along as Baron, a German shepherd, searches for a lost little girl until he finds her in a cave. Afterwards, he and his handler enjoy a well-deserved rest at home. Not extensively informative, this book is simply an introduction to the topic. The back inside cover offers an additional note with more facts about rescue dogs. The finely rendered and realistic watercolor illustrations show the canine following the trail, finding the lost girl, and pulling her to safety. Appropriate for all collections in light of the use of rescue dogs in New York this fall. M.O.B.
