This text integrates the computer algebra system, Mathematica, with an array of mathematical topics that are used to analyze systems that arise in business and economics. The authors take advantage of the graphic capability of Mathematica to provide extensive graphic illustrations of maths concepts. The authors have also made learning Mathematica easy and more enjoyable. The use of Mathematica in performing computations takes the tediousness out of solving mathematical problems. The book is self-contained, and provides the material to learn the mathematics as well as programming skills to learn the Mathematica language. The material covered in this text constitutes the core of a one semester course in mathematics for economists at the first-year graduate or advanced undergraduate level. Special effort is made to indicate the economic applications of mathematical techniques covered in the text and to provide demonstration of their use. Topics covered include: an introduction to mathematica; the use of Mathematica in calculus; linear algebra, covering vectors, matrices and systems of linear equations; quadratic forms; convex and relations functions; the linear programming problem.
