Secrets. Your characters must have secrets. It’s what makes them interesting. It’s how the reader learns a lot about what makes them tick. The characters in your book don’t need to know each other’s secrets, but your reader does. A writer is told to write what they know in order to make the work believable (and a whole lot easier to write); and while you don’t have to write word for word what really happened in your life, your secrets can easily be used to form new secrets for your characters. Don’t take even the most mudane of secrets for granted. They can still add depth to the characters in your stories. Once you’ve completed all of the writing prompts in this book, you’ll have an enourmous resource you can use when writing your novels or short stories for a long time to come. And if your goal is to write a tell-all memoir, then this book is a must have. (We take no responsibility for friends or family issues that may arise from telling your secrets.) ;) Happy writing!
