This book is designed to help English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Speakers deal with the difficulties of the pronunciation of both British and American English. The book makes an analysis of the English pronunciation by dividing it into 2 parts: the analysis of the segmental pronunciation and the analysis of the supra-segmental pronunciation. The book deals only with the analysis of the segmental pronunciation, by further dividing it into 2 parts: the analysis of the Realization and the analysis of the Distribution of the Phonemes. The analysis of the Realization of the Phonemes is made through an examination of the basic principles of phonetics and a description of how the phonemes are produced phonetically. The analysis of the Distribution of the Phonemes is made through a description of their historical origins and, most of all, through the examination of a list of about 8400 English words accompanied by their phonemic transcription.
