Reseña del editor:
In order to address this, here is a glimpse into the man who wrote this book. Nick Yarris is a 52 year old man who lives in Lincolnshire England. The life before his living there began back in Philadelphia. At an early age Nick's life was destroyed by a horrible childhood attack upon him by a sexual predator. Left with damage done to his brain physically from the attack at age 7, Nick Yarris had to live with the shame and secrecy of this event, nearly destroying his life in the process. At age 20, Nick is arrested for minor crimes and thrown into jail in Pennsylvania. He is accused of rape and murder of a woman who was killed in 1981 after a fellow inmate claims Nick confessed the crime to him while in jail together. Nick was convicted and sentenced to die in 1982, and would remain in solitary confinement for the next 22 years fighting to prove his innocence. Despite being the first man to seek DNA tests for exoneration, Nick was to endure 15 years of DNA battles in court before finally proving his innocence in 2003. Released from prison in 2004, Nick Yarris became yet one more example of humans faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges to recover. This is where the book 'Seven Days To Love' begins for readers. How do you take the things that are learned about yourself whilst in hell, and show them to be your better qualities? How does one even attempt to overcome the set notion that having been in prison that long must surely have diminished them? It is against this backdrop that we find the struggle of a man to not only be accepted by society, but to work through many very difficult obstacles to find peace and happiness in life. Nick Yarris has truly faced some tough times while in prison, yet in this book readers find that Nick has been no less challenged during the first 10 years of his life. He has overcome the loss of his mother and brother as he himself has been faced with a choice of bonding with love to those around him. In each life such sorrow comes, yet we find it has not been all that fair in the plenitude of events faced by this man. From 2004 until now, the story of this man's life is one that is as widely ranging in scope as it has been dramatic. How else can one encompass such extremes as being homeless shortly after release, to standing in the Parliament in the UK delivering speeches? From being near death with illness in prison, to having a completely clean bill of health? From having nothing to being a millionaire with hopes and dreams of a future, all to lose everything? And yet, the most poignant message offered from this author is for his only child whom he is estranged from, as well as to those around him in his current life today. In no way can any book of this nature be spared the reality of some people being offended by the behaviors exemplified in portions of this work. It is not until the full account of this story is absorbed that the reader fully appreciates this work. No one wants to be the author of woes in their life, yet when faced with this daunting task, Nick Yarris has held himself accountable as much as anyone can. One can truly hope that the love this man claims to have found in his life for his new partner Jessica compliments the many good messages which he is offering in a positive way. In this way the book can all be taken as one of inspiration and hope.
