My book The Return of The Little Prince is not only what it appears to be - a sequel to The Little Prince, the whimsical story written by my uncle Antoine De Saint-Exupery, where myth and poetry mix with reality and speak to us of the Eternal in an innocent, childlike manner - but a true real to life testimonial account of that magic moment when the quest to find the invisible spark of life that gives meaning to everything there is happened in our lives, because his story as well as mine are both true. I learned the hidden story behind The Little Prince from my aunt Consuelo De Saint-Exupery, an extraordinary person and the inspirational Muse of Saint-Ex, the Rose of his famous fairy tale, who taught me not only to read The Little Prince in French, but also to see the essential meaning hidden behind the words. She talked to me about Saint-Ex: about his dream world, his airplane flights, of his moonstruck reveries, his airplane crashes and the spirit that helped him to survive them! Everything Aunt Consuelo taught me became part of what later on in my life helped me to find that secret hidden in The Little Prince that now illumines my life. I remember. . . when I was a little girl, maybe six years old, I learned to read, know and love The Little Prince. I later learned that it was James Dean’s bedside book. I never met him personally, but I read in a movie magazine that he considered The Little Prince his Bible. I wondered if what drew James Dean to The Little Prince was the same thing that I loved about it that in it was a road map to a true spiritual experience hidden behind simple words and childlike drawings. As is natural when one learns of things as a child, the same format of my uncle's book as well as his drawing style flowed out of me when I wrote The Return of The Little Prince, my story of how I searched for, and found, the Little Prince. One of the things that moved me to write it, was that whenever I read the last page of my uncle's book, I was moved by his sadness and felt a sense of urgency within me to find the Little Prince and that lonely star landscape, so I promised myself that one day I would find the Little Prince and be the first one to let Saint-Ex know that he was back. As a result I learned early in life to close my eyes and search with an open heart. The Return of The Little Prince is the fruit of my search. It has a happy ending as all good fairy tales do, for it happened that, one day, when I least expected it . . . I found the Little Prince! Thus I wrote my story, both as a direct answer to my uncle's plea to share the good news and to share the good news with all those who love The Little Prince, and as an Invitation to an incredible Quest to those who long to find their reality.Reseña del editor:
Full Color Version of ‘The Return of The Little Prince’, by Dame Ysatis De Saint-Simon is a marvelous sequel to the whimsical story of her uncle Antoine De Saint-Exupery’s,’ The Little Prince’, where myth and poetry mix with reality and speak to us of the eternal in such an innocent manner. Both his and her story are true, real stories of a Personal Quest in which most of us are engaged in consciously, or subconsciously in order to find that invisible spark of life within us, which gives meaning to all there is. De Saint-Simone learned the inner meaning of her uncle’s story from her aunt Consuelo De Saint-Exupery, an extraordinary person and the inspiration of Saint-Ex,, the Rose of his story, who taught her to read in French ‘The Little Prince’, and the essential meaning of it as well. ‘She talked to me’ she says, ‘about Saint-Ex, his dream world, of his airplane flights, of his moonstruck reveries, his airplane falls and the spirit that helped him survive them! Everything in that book was an integral part of what later happened to me and helped me to find that secret that now illumines my life I remember. . . when I was a little girl, maybe six years old, I learned to read. . . know. . . and love the Little Prince. Later on, I learned that many others also did; James Dean. I never knew him personally, but I read in an interview of a movie magazine that he said The Little Prince was his Bible. . . it was, his bedside book of and I wondered if what drew him to it was the same thing that I loved about it? What I loved best was the invisible hidden in between such simple words and its childlike drawings, for concealed behind the fairytale there was a road map to a true spiritual experience. Whenever I read the last page of my uncle's book, I was moved by his sadness and felt a sense of urgency within me to find that lonely star landscape. So, I promised myself that one day I would find the Little Prince and let Saint-Ex know that he was back. Consequently, since early in life, I learned to close my eyes, open my heart and. . . began my quest. This tale is the fruit of my search. It has a happy ending as all good fairy tales have, for it happened that one day. . . when I least expected it. . . I found the Little Prince! Thus, I wrote this book, both as a direct answer to my uncle's plea, to share the good news with all those who love The Little Prince and as an invitation to quest to all those who long to find their reality. ‘ In writing her book De Saint-Simone has followed the same format of her uncle's book and also utilized the same style of drawings, wrapping her own story of how she searched and found the Little Prince as it came out of her, so both stories are different, but similar, for a very good reason: she couldn't have done it in any other way, for she has loved and known The Little Prince since she was a child. The main difference being that this book closes with the happiest note that anyone can play, the finding of that spot where the Little Prince appears, so the sad landscape of the lonely star becomes the happiest landscape in the world! A true story of a successful Spiritual Quest.
