Two men, mortal enemies, thrown together at a time of economic and social upheaval, Afghanistan was their final conflict before extenuating circumstances brought about their combined capture. Their timely incarceration provides the opportunity to reflect on their lives and reasons for their current misfortune, both have fought for their chosen side, in opposition they have excelled, gaining a reputation for fairness and loyalty amongst their peers, but now they begin to question their perception of the truth. Similarities eventually emerge, although their conversation is limited to what they are prepared to divulge, neither willing to admit to his past. They have blood on their hands, resulting from covert activities, to battles in Afghanistan, Iran, even Chechnya. The scenes play in their minds, and they slowly open up, weaving a fabricated web around their tales, but as they retell past experiences a pattern emerges, one of a disturbing nature, were they ultimately destined to arrive in the hell they now found themselves in? If so, who determined their fate and why? Their battles, loves, struggles are somehow entwined, though a sense of hopelessness prevails, is the true enemy omnipotent, will their small contributions make any difference to the end result? Can war be just or fair, is life fair, am I fighting on behalf of good, and will I be judged fairly when my time is at an end? Not unreasonable questions, but does one man have the answer? The disturbing nature of progress with predictable implications lays at the heart of the escalating crises. Can the imperceptible decline towards social turpitude be averted or is it a necessary precursor to salvation? A burgeoning population with an ever widening divide between rich and poor exacerbates the potential for civil unrest, anarchy and ultimately terrorism. BUT, is someone manipulating the process to suit their own ends?
