Sinopsis

Excerpt from Three Lectures on the Vedânta Philosophy: Delivered at the Royal Institution in March, 1894

I AM fully aware of the difficulties which I shall have to encounter in trying to enlist your interest, nay, if possible, your sympathy, for an ancient system of Indian Philosophy, the Vedanta Philo Sophy. It is no easy task, even within the walls of this scientific Institution, to obtain a hearing for a mere system of philosophy, whether new or old. The world is too busy to listen to purely theoretical speculations; it wants exciting experi ments and, if possible, tangible results. And yet I remember one who ought to be well known to all of you in this place, I remember our dear friend Tyndall, rejoicing over a new theory.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the Vedanta Philosophy by situating it within the context of ancient Indian religious and philosophical traditions. The author argues that the Vedanta's unique and enduring value lies in its sophisticated exploration of the relationship between the Divine (Brahman) and the individual soul (Atman). The author further argues this philosophy is significant for its time as it rejected ritualistic practices in favor of deeper contemplation and self-reflection, recognizing the importance of subjective experience and the limitations of the senses in understanding reality. Overall, this book provides a unique perspective on the enduring significance of the Vedanta Philosophy, offering valuable insights into its historical context, key concepts, and relevance for understanding the relationship between the divine and human realms. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
