About the Author:

Gilbert Gonzalez was born in 1938, in Harlingen, Texas. He was raised by his parents who came to the United States illegally from Mexico after the Mexican Revolution.

Gilbert was raised in a very poor environment due to his father's inability to find gainful employment in Texas. In spite of the poverty that plagued the family, he managed to work his way through high school and graduated at the age of 19.

After graduation, Gilbert was unsuccessful at finding gainful employment. He was finally able to land a job as a janitor for the Central Power and Light Company in Harlingen, Texas. That began a career with a lot of twists and turns as he worked his way into other jobs, including Draftsman and Engineering Assistant. Gilbert retired from the company with the title of Contract Analyst after working for the company for thirty-five years.

Everything in this book is a true recollection of memories of what Gilbert went through in his early years, the school years, his working life, up to his retirement, and his two marriages.

The author wrote this book because he believes that everyone has a story that should be told regardless of how poor, or how insignificant they perceive their lives.
