Excerpt from Elements of Plane and Spherical Trigonometry
The-aim of the author in this treatise has been to pre sent to the student in as concise a form as is consistent with clearness that portion of the subject of Trigonometry which is generally given in a college course. The first part of the subject is presented in much detail, each point being emphasized as far as possible by means of numerous examples and illustrations. Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces the reader to trigonometry, taking a conceptual approach to the subject that emphasizes an understanding of the relationships between the six parts of a triangle. The author carefully defines trigonometric functions, such as sine, cosine, and tangent, and provides a solid foundation in the most fundamental formulas used to calculate them. This book also provides a thoughtful exploration of the variations in the values of these functions as the angle increases, carefully establishing the ranges of values for each. Expanding upon this, the author investigates the functions of angles greater than 90°, and explains how to find any function of an angle in terms of a function of an angle less than 90°. An entire chapter is dedicated to discovering the relationships between the functions of different angles, leading to the derivation of a variety of useful formulas. By explaining complex trigonometry concepts in an easily understandable way, this book provides a practical resource for anyone looking to master the subject.
