Excerpt from The Slave Trade in Africa in 1872: Principally Carried on for the Supply of Turkey, Egypt, Persia and Zanzibar

On December 31st, 1868, the Mixed Commission Court established at the Cape of Good Hope by the Govern ments of Great Britain, the United States, and Portugal, declared that it had not been called upon to judge one single case of slave-trade during the year then closing.

In consequence of this, Lord Clarendon announced that these three nations had concluded to discontinue the Commission. There could be no longer any reason for its continuance, as the slave-trade was abolished on the western coasts of Africa.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book unveils the horrifying realities of the East African slave trade in 1872, a lesser-known chapter in the broader history of slavery. The author meticulously documents the devastating impact of this trade, which ravaged vast regions of Africa and claimed hundreds of thousands of lives annually. The narrative exposes the intricate networks of slave hunters, traders, and complicit authorities who perpetuated this brutal system. It delves into the harrowing journeys of enslaved people across the Sahara Desert and along the Nile River, subjected to unimaginable suffering and cruelty. The author sheds light on the complex dynamics of this trade, including the involvement of European individuals and the exploitation of local conflicts and religious justifications. The book also explores the devastating consequences of the slave trade on African societies, fostering instability, violence, and moral decay. By exposing the atrocities and the intricate workings of the East African slave trade, this book serves as a powerful indictment of human barbarity and a call to action for its complete eradication. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
